Workshops
Several workshops are available to take the student from basic woodworking skills to the most advanced techniques in classical woodcarving.
The first weekend of each month features a 2-day class designed to familiarize the student with the tools and techniques of woodworking. The student will learn the basic techniques of perspective, proportions, and symmetry. Every project begins with an understanding of how to visualize the finished work and thinking in 3 dimensions. These classes offer a creative mixture of lecture, demonstrations, and hands-on experience. Each class is designed to expose the student to the various types and purposes of wood and the tools designed for each. The student that attends these classes will complete a different project each month and broaden their experience and expertise in various woods and tools.
The last weekend of each month is designed for the artist seeking to take their woodworking skills to the next level. Each month will feature a project designed to challenge the artist in one of the classic woodcarving styles: Gothic, Rococo, Empire, Baroque, and others. These 2-day classes will also continue to expand the woodworker’s knowledge of design, perspective, anatomy of wood, and the care and maintenance of their tools. These classes allow for the student to bring their own 2-day project to class, or work one of the projects provided. Completing several of these classes can raise the student’s knowledge and artistry to international levels.
Independent study classes are offered on a time available basis. Students can arrange special classes outside of the regular schedules. These classes are ideal for the student who wishes to work on a project of their own design, or any of the other projects or styles from a previous class.

The independent study classes can also be used by students looking to take their woodworking artistry to the final level. Working with Master Woodcarver Boris Khechoyan on their own competition quality projects, these students will learn in-depth knowledge of the woods, tools, styles, and techniques that are essential to producing artwork at the Master’s level.
